November 6th . . .
Line up ladies and gentlemen, voting time is here! These are some t-shirt designs for the summer reunion. I am going to get them printed on American Apparel shirts that are high quality cotton and way comfortable. I didn't want anything too cheesy-- you know, like gingerbread men in a circle holding hands and a line that says "families are a circle of friends who love each other"-- I mean, who is going to wear that (okay, maybe one member of our family but that was only b/c it went really good with those flower jams).
So, I tried to think of things that represent us or where we'll be this summer. Keep in mind when you vote that more than one color is a little bit more expensive (like $17 a shirt vs $15). Also, printing on the back and front it more expensive, so all the designs below are front of shirt designs. There are kids sizes and onesies for babies-- if you want them. You don't need to give me sizes now- I'll send an email about that later.
Here are the rules:
1)I have posted each design as a post, so you are to comment below the design that you are voting for.
2) You can vote more than once, but not for the same design more than once. I actually encourage you to do this because this way it will help me narrow down the winner.
3)Only vote for ones that you'll acutally wear. I mean it. It won't hurt my feelings if one doesn't get voted for.
4) If you don't like any of the designs, comment below this post. If you decide to take this route, you must offer a suggestion for what you do want.
5)Comment on this post to choose the color of the shirt. The options are as follows:
a)neutral white (like an oatmeal color) b)gray c)red d)blue e) black f) brown g) green
That's it! If you don't vote, you're at the mercy of everyone who does-- so I suggest you take the advice of MTV and ROCK THE VOTE!

Teton skyline baby.
This would go completely across the front of the shirt and would have text below it. I'm not sure what-- so give me advice. I really don't like "hatch family reunion 2010" but if it comes down to that. . . This was the template for the "hatchagoina" design (scroll down) but it would just be like this-- either black, blue, green, orange. . . you get the idea. A single color. If you vote for this, you must state a color preference.
Carolina Grown
I know this probably won't get any votes since the text is exclusive to anyone not grown in Carolina (including mom and dad), but I kind of feel like we'll all have "roots" there, you know? I mean, props to mom and dad for heading thousands of miles away. I just love Carolina. Plus, I thought about making it a bean plant (the seed more bean shaped) and then it would seriously be a more accurate representation.
Yellow Power T
This would be larger in the middle of the front of the shirt. I doesn't have to say any of this stuff, I just wrote text there to get the idea that there would be text there. I could say something really cool like "Because of two" "G2(like gary and gayle squared)" or other very nerdy phrases like "hatchtastic-- growing exponentially"-- or very cliche like "Hatch reunion."
I heart bread
I tried to think of something that would be quintessentially HATCH that would also make a good graphic. Coincidentally they all had to do with food: moms bread, the kitchen table and a tomato. Bread worked the best, so here it is.
Hatchagonia
This image would be in the center of the shirt. I don't know what is with my "hatchagonia" theme, but his is clearly the patagonia lable, but with the tetons instead. Dorky? you decide.
Good Egg
This image would be in the middle of the front of the shirt about 4'x4'. The font could change to anything (like more typewriter looking).

Pysch!
After toiling away to create a new witty blog, Brian has decided that he just could not part with The Haystack. Why? Well, due to its sentimental value of course! (yes he really said that). He reminded me that we made it right after we got married for a family night, and that its the story of our whole marriage so far-- uh. . . definitely couldn't deny that or Brian's blogging wish, so say goodbye to the very short lived "Post it Note Novel" and hello to the Haystack. Sorry to all of you who have already changed your links, but my guess is that most of you won't have to worry about that.

JANUS
Janus was the Roman god of gates, doors, beginnings and endings. He had two faces or heads; one that faced the past and one that faced the future which allowed him to both learn from and remember the past while moving forward into the future. . . thus the month "January" is fittingly his namesake.
I love New Years --- it has ranked as my second favorite holiday next to Christmas for years. Partly because as a deprived child it was the only time all year that I ever saw Doritos and Sprite in the house. My mom would take us to the store and let all the kids pick out ANYTHING we wanted. Then, we would eat like gluttons; personal pan pizzas with all the toppings, chips, dip, sodas, ice cream, pickles etc. Then we would all dance in the living room, shred newspaper into strips (you'll see why later) and play games. At five minutes till midnight we would watch the ball drop and immeadiately when it fell we would run around the house banging pots and pans with metal spoons, jump on the trampoline screaming "happy new year!!" and throw our bags of newspaper strips all over the house (this always led to an insane fight where each person tried to shove as much newspaper as possible up the shirts of everyone in the house until we were all laughing, screaming, smudged with gray ink and stuffed like twice-baked potatoes).
With all the new beginnings, goals and changes of a new year I've recalled to life The Post it Note Novel. B and I decided a long time ago to start a new blog-- I must have put a fake email on the Haystack because niether of us are the owners of the blog and we haven't been able to add any friends or family to our sidebar, change our settings or even see the pictures that we upload. Soooo, what better time to start a new blog than the beginning of a new year and decade? So raise your plastic cups of Sprite-- here's to the new year, the new decade, the new blog and the new adventures of 2010.
